Dow Dividend Yield

The Dow, or Dow Jones Industrial Average, is a price-weighted average of 30 major stocks traded at the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) and the NASDAQ. Charles Dow put this index together back in 1896. What does a price-weighted index mean? The weight a stock carries on the index is proportional to its stock price. A stock trading at $100 will make up 5 times more of the index than a stock trading at $20. The Dow is one of the most closely watched stock indexes and often serves as a benchmark or proxy for overall direction of the market. Dividend Yields of Companies listed on the Dow
